What is Domestic and Sexual Violence? Domestic
and sexual violence can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, and
socio-economic status and can have many aspects: o Physical o Mental or emotional o Sexual o Property or financial Domestic violence is a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors including physical, sexual and psychological attacks as well as economic coercion, that adults or adolescents use against their intimate partners. Sexual
violence occurs any time a person is forced, coerced, or manipulated into
sexual activity. Sexual violence includes rape, incest, child sexual
assault, sexual harassment, and date rape. It is motivated by a need to
control, humiliate, and harm. Sexual violence is never the victim's
fault! |
