2007 Annual Campaign The Women’s Center is always open. Every day, every night, every holiday. Someone is always available to calm an anxious voice and steady a trembling hand. Our counselors are available 24/7 because we must be ready to help someone whenever they are able to make a phone call or come in. That means we are open during the night, when a frightened child clings to his mother, tired because he can’t sleep. In the shelter, he is given a soft blanket and a snack. He feels safe in the quiet and falls asleep as his mother is telling her story to the counselor. It means the Women’s Center is open on Christmas morning with presents under the tree and a turkey roasting in the oven. Cookies, candy and fruit are set out for everyone to enjoy. It’s almost like home – except no one is yelling or crying. It is peaceful. For some of our neighbors here in Beaver County, home is not always safe. Fortunately, they have somewhere to go for help whenever they need it. We want to continue to provide free services to everyone who needs them however, our funding has been cut again this year. All victims of domestic and sexual violence deserve a chance to change their lives and heal. Your gift will enable us to help them do this and break the cycle of violence. I hope that I can count on you for a gift of $50, or any amount you are able to give. Your support is vital to continuing our work to help those who have violence in their lives. Please help us to keep our doors open 24/7 because that’s when people need us. Sincerely, Jill Marsilio-Colonna, MS Executive Director
